FOCAL PRO LENS CALIBRATION SOFTWARE
If it's truly "the coolest software ever" I'll let you guys know. Since the first public release in late 2011, we’ve added support for over 40 cameras and helped calibrate millions of cameras and lenses FoCal 2.9 is the latest and greatest release of what is still the only automatic autofocus calibration solution for DSLRs. I have the Spyder focus calibration gadget that I use to manually do it, so I'm not planning on immediately dropping any money on this, but I do want to check it out next time I'm at my brothers. FoCal came into existence 10 years ago, way back in 2009. I'm not thrilled that there's a limit to the number of cameras it allows you to use it with, though I understand why they might do this ("Hey, c'mon over and I'll calibrate your camera and lens for $25!!"). The "Pro" version is about $100 depending on the daily exchange rate. Nikons covered are all the FX cameras and the D7000/D7100. the original body/lens combo is off by more than 3-5 AFMA adjustment points.
FOCAL PRO LENS CALIBRATION MANUAL
Seems to be slightly more "automated" on Canon than Nikon likely due to what the USB interface can and cannot do, but my understanding is that it all works the same but there is manual intervention involved on the Nikon side that approximately doubles the time required to produce your numbers (from 1-2 to 3-4 minutes, or so it says). Even if you are not using the FoCal software, to use a flat target it must. Overly simplified, it seems you connect your camera to your computer with the software installed via USB cable, print out their charts, go through the proper steps and it will produce the optimized set of calibration numbers for your camera lens combination.
FOCAL PRO LENS CALIBRATION MAC
Included with each FoCal Pro purchase is the licence key to use FoCal Pro with supported cameras on both Windows and Mac operating systems. As you calibrate different lenses and become more familiar using FoCal youll get a feel for how the graph is used within Focal to calculate focus adjustments. FoCal Pro from Reikan is purpose designed to provide a comprehensive and accurate way to focus calibrate and test most modern Canon and Nikon DSLR cameras and lenses. So I wrote a new blog about it, comparing it to the LensAlign system, discussing pros/cons, and providing some tips fro getting a good calibration on the FoCal system. I believe it provides a much more reliable MA adjustment. I bought the Pro version and wow it is neat. What hewas talking about is Reikan FoCal Automated Camera/Lens Calibration software. The lens profile graph provides other useful information, for example you can get an idea of focus consistency by looking at the groupings of test images at the same AF adjustment value. I still do but then I came across the Reikan FoCal system. Included with each FoCal Pro purchase is the licence key to use FoCal Pro. It works like a charm! Make sure you read ALL the documentation before using it though, there is a bit of a learning curve." FoCal Pro Focus Calibration Software, Retail Box with Hard Target FoCal Pro from Reikan is purpose designed to provide a comprehensive and accurate way to focus calibrate and test modern Canon and Nikon DSLR cameras and lenses. I got an email from my brother yesterday with a subject line of "Coolest Software Ever!!" The body read, "Been using the Pro version all day setting up all my bodies an lenses.
